Citing Your Images

Just like any other source, images must be cited. What makes images challenging is the type of images. Is it a moving image (film, documentary), a cartoon strip, graphic novel, painting, sculpture or performance art.  Each one is cited slightly different. This LibGuide will show you the various types of images you may would need to source when introducing them into your papers.

For information on citing visual resources, see section 5.7.6 in MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, Seventh Edition.

For general information on using image sources check out The OWL at Purdue: MLA 2009 Tables, Figures, and Examples.
